Why Was My Payment Declined?Updated 21 hours ago
Overview
If your payment was declined at checkout, it usually means your bank or card provider blocked the transaction for security or authorization reasons. PNW Sanitary does not see the exact reason for the decline, but there are several common causes and simple steps you can take to resolve them.
Common Reasons a Payment Is Declined
- Bank security or fraud filters
Your bank may flag the transaction as unusual, especially for larger orders, business purchases, or international transactions. - Incorrect billing address or ZIP/postal code
The billing address entered at checkout must match the address on file with your card provider. Address mismatches can cause the transaction to fail. - Incorrect card details
An error in the card number, expiration date, or security code (CVV/CVC) will trigger a decline. - Insufficient funds or credit limit
The available balance or credit limit on the card may be lower than the order total. - Card not enabled for online or international purchases
Some cards must be explicitly enabled for online, business, or cross-border transactions. - Bank-imposed daily spending limits
Your bank may approve the card in general, but a daily or per-transaction limit has been reached.
Steps to Resolve a Declined Payment
- Double-check your billing information
Confirm that your billing address, postal code, and card details exactly match what your bank has on file. - Try a different payment method
If available, try another card or a digital wallet such as Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or PayPal. - Contact your bank or card provider
Ask if they blocked or declined a transaction from PNW Sanitary. If so, they can usually clear the block and allow you to place the order again.
Multi-Currency and Foreign Transaction Considerations
If you are paying in a currency other than USD, your bank may apply additional checks, conversion rules, or foreign transaction controls that can also lead to a decline. In some cases, switching the checkout currency to USD may help the transaction process successfully.
Has My Card Been Charged?
If your payment was declined, the order will not be completed and we will not capture a charge. In some cases, your bank may place a temporary authorization hold that should automatically clear after a short period, depending on your bank’s policies.
